Biography:

Hi. My name is Saber. I have been a full time artist since 1989.  I discovered my artistic gift at an early age in elementary school when I was asked to do chalk drawing demonstrations in the classrooms by my teacher.

Later in high school I was invited to join my art teacher in his studio as an apprentice during the summer vacations. Then,  after some training a demand for my art developed starting mostly from relatives and neighbors for local landscapes and portraits.
As a teenager I won some art competitions like the local city poster and the country fairs....  Later most of my artistic training was done at the University  Of  Washington in Seattle.  I took numerous art classes, one of them from famous artist Jacob Lawrence.  At the same time I painted the city and some Washington State parks. Some paintings are on display in the "Washington" section of this website. It includes the beaches and the mountains.

After college I continued to paint the Seattle scene and  the local parks. Greenlake Park, University of Washington campus and Arboretum were my favorite places to paint. Painting the lake was both an inspiration and a social place because it's the busiest park in the state of Washington. The encouragement from the locals was unbelievable. For many years I was known as the greenlake artist in Seattle. By painting on location I was able to capture many aspects of the lake as the light changed during the day and the seasons. Some of the work can be seen in the "GreenLake"  paintings section on this website.

During the warm season I would paint the lake and socialize with the locals that bought most of the paintings I produced. After that I painted The Arboretum which was less crowded and looked like Monet's garden in a larger scale. It was more natural and isolated. The series of paintings can be seen in the "University of Washington" section.

Since I paint mostly outdoors and the winters in Seattle are too cold and rainy, I started traveling to Hawaii.  There I did a series of paintings of the Hawaiian islands but mostly  Maui and many of Lahaina.

For many years I spent my winters in Hawaii and my summers in Washington State painting the mountains and seascapes.

Most of  my art is very realistic but impressionist in color. Part of  the paintings  are pointillism in nature and took months to paint.   I enjoy  painting almost anything and landscapes are my favorite subject. I am  very attracted to the colors of the sunsets and their spectacular reflections on  the water. I also enjoy the contrast created by the moonlight.

In 2004 I started painting surreal landscapes involving water and clouds interactions. Then in 2005 I started animating them using my computer software. I am very interested in animated art with its constantly changing forms and colors.
Thank you for your interest in my art. If you have any questions please don't hesitate to send a message or call my studio. Artist Benjamin Saber
